GIS Team Leader
Salary £34,960 - £38,430
Join the Tyler Grange ecology tribe! We are looking for a GIS Team Leader to help us drive our Ecology GIS Capabilities throughout the business. This is a new role, and an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to recruit and lead a GIS team. Initially the role will involve streamlining GIS outputs across the Ecology Discipline, whilst also leading on the development of a GIS strategy. Our goal is to build a strong GIS / Spatial Data team and it is likely that the strategy will involve recruiting more staff to support you. The location is flexible but would require travel to other locations when needed.
Our mapping operations run on Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) and the role requires a deep working knowledge of QGIS, and ideally other FOSS4G software too. A proven self-starter, you should be comfortable making decisions to drive our GIS capabilities across the business. We’re also looking for a leader to mentor our budding consultants and graduates.
Expect diverse tasks. Dive into meaty projects, collaborate cross-discipline, and adjust on the fly to nature's whims. While the pace is lively, there are moments to pause and reflect. No two days are the same.
At Tyler Grange, we value innovation over convention; the usual route isn't always our chosen path. We care deeply and celebrate loudly. We're one big family always looking for the next big opportunity. Every day is a blend of meaningful work, good laughs, and honest conversations. If you thrive in this kind of setting, then you’ll fit right in.
To join us in setting new standards and driving our GIS Capabilities forward, you need:
Management experience:
- Leading a GIS team, ideally within an Ecological / Environmental consultancy.
- Developing technical contract specifications and managing contractors.
- Collaborating with the Ecology Technical Team to drive digital innovation and transformation across the business.
Technical experience:
- Deep working knowledge of QGIS, and ideally other FOSS4G software too.
- Setting up spatial data management, QA/QC processes, and master templates to ensure efficiency of mapping operations and standardisation of data / report outputs.
- Experience using digital field survey apps.
Other requirements:
- An approach that resonates with our values and fosters collaborative working
- A commitment to the pursuit of excellence
- A full UK driving license
Your journey at Tyler Grange is enriched by the amazing people you’ll team up with, both in and outside of our tribe. We’re like-minded souls who cheer on our mates, cherish our clients, and sprinkle goodness back into our communities. Join the adventure.
