Senior Ecologist - Botany
Join the Tyler Grange Ecology tribe! We are looking for a Senior Consultant with a specialism in botany. Here you'll lead exciting projects, overseeing everything from:
- Preliminary Ecology Appraisals
- Ecological Impact Assessments
- Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
- Habitats Regulations Assessments

You should be adept at scoping, designing and leading ecological surveys. Be comfortable to forge strong bonds with our clients to win work for the team and yourself, to build a standout client and site portfolio. We’re also looking for someone who is keen to mentor our budding consultants and graduates.
Expect diverse tasks. Dive into meaty projects, collaborate cross-discipline, and adjust on the fly to nature's whims as an ecologist. While the pace is lively, there are moments to pause and reflect. No two days are the same.
We're not just part of the ecological landscape—we're elevating it. To join us in setting new standards, you need:
- Academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences
- To be a CIEEM member and working towards Chartership
- To have a specialism in Ornithology, Botany or Bats, with a track record of scoping and undertaking surveys for large sites and coming up with mitigation solutions
- In-depth understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework
- Excellent survey skills including extended Phase I/UKHabs, specialised species surveys
- Experience in Habitat Regulations Assessments and stakeholder engagement with SNCBs is desirable
- Experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and LPAs
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity for both clients and peers
- Robust and precise report writing and reviewing capabilities
- Exceptional project management skills: leading, mentoring, and making sure projects are delivered on time and within budget, all while exceeding client expectations
- An approach that resonates with our values and fosters collaborative working
- A commitment to the pursuit of excellence
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience in Habitat Regulations Assessments and stakeholder engagement with Natural England is desirable
- A proven track record in business development and securing your own projects is desirable
