Regional Ecology Director (North)
Tyler Grange are seeking to recruit a dynamic, commercial and operational lead for the Ecology team in the North, which encompasses the Manchester and Birmingham Offices. The position works collaboratively with the Regional Ecology Director for the South to deliver the strategy for Ecology, and in turn the overall TG business strategy, reporting to the TG Operations Director. As such you will have excellent communication and team management skills, an eye for detail and thrive in a dynamic and fun working atmosphere.
This position works closely with the Operational Team Leads in the offices as well as the Technical leads for the offices and/or region. A proven track record within the ecology / planning industry, providing leadership, management and pipeline review as well as a keen interest in sales and business development will be key to success in this role.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Regional Ecology Director (South) and Operations Director to deliver the annual Ecology Strategy and overall TG business strategy;
- Support of Operational Office Leads in the analysis of operational data including pipeline, opportunities and sales actions;
- Taking ownership of, and supporting team leads in, decision making around HR (in liaison with the TG HR lead), recruitment and partner (subcontractor) use;
- Working closely with the central resource coordination team to ensue efficient delivery of workload across the region;
- Working with Technical Leads to ensure the technical support is in place for their regions and identifying strategies for dealing with skills gaps, use of technology, innovations and specific regional requirements;
- Completion of the monthly Operations report for their region following interrogation of data with their office leads
- Working collaboratively with the Regional Ecology Director (South) to ensure the approaches, collaborative working and knowledge sharing across regions continues;
- Working with the Operational leads and regional sales representatives to ensure sales is driven in the right direction to align with the sales strategy and the specific operational and technical relevance to their region (e.g. specific requirements of a region or skills in a team);
- Feeding into and collaborating on the preparation of the annual review of the Ecology strategy and budget to ensure continued alignment with the overall business strategy and exploring new directions for growth and opportunity.
From time to time you will also provide project support to the team in your region and the wider Ecology team, helping to mentor and support more junior project managers in large or complex projects. We are looking for a new member of our tribe who:
- Has the ability to be a proactive lead in the region and mentor the wider ecology leadership team and project managers within a project scenario
- Is a confident communicator that embodies our values of Honesty, Caring, Belonging, Opportunity and Enjoyment
- Holds an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences
- Has an eye for detail in the scrutiny of data, finding of solutions and reviewing of written work, applicable in both operational leadership and project scenarios
- Has a developed understanding of legislative and planning policy framework within our industry
- Is enthusiastic and engaging with peers, contacts and clients
- Has a commitment to the pursuit of excellence, including a desire to innovate how we deliver for our clients and explore new sectors
- Is a full member of CIEEM, or Chartered Ecologist/working towards Chartership
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Salary:
Tyler Grange operates a transparent pay structure with fixed pay points within each grade. Salary for this role will therefore be dependent on experience and suitability for the role/possession of essential and desirable skills. We are seeking to fill this position with a Director in our A or B pay point which are:
- £60,300; or
- £64,600
Pay points advertised currently reflect our 2024 salary banding. All pay points are reevaluated at the beginning of each year to consider inflation and other potential changes. These will be updated in January 2025, and those joining Tyler Grange in 2024 can expect those changes to be reflected from that period.
